The 2026 type kit

Four typefaces, one role each. All four are free and open source, so partners can install them without a licence.

Carved by the Ocean

Space Grotesk Headings and short statements. Light 300 at large display sizes, Medium 500 for section headings.

Every case is a one off, cut from a sheet no two of which are alike.

Inter Body text, product descriptions, tables, interface labels. Regular 400 and Medium 500.

Space Mono SKU codes, prices, technical specs. Figures line up in a column, which is the point.

a true expression

Instrument Serif, italic Accent only. A few words inside a heading, never a whole sentence, never body text.

Technical fallbacks, not optional

Two surfaces cannot render these fonts, so they get a safe substitute:

Spreadsheets (.xlsx) do not embed fonts. Price lists and Product Info render with whatever the recipient has installed, so set them in Arial or Helvetica.
Email: Outlook and the Gmail app ignore webfonts. Email templates keep a standard sans-serif stack.

What the wordmark uses

Nothing. The MATERIK wordmark is drawn artwork, not type, so it is unaffected by any of this. Never rebuild it in a font, place the supplied file. See the Logo page.
